When we hear the word authority, we often think of titles, degrees, or positions. But there’s one kind of authority that every single person on this planet has — the authority over themselves.
We all have the authority to choose our thoughts. To decide which voices we let in, and which ones we let brush off. We have the authority to be who we want to be, to act with intention, to respond rather than react.
Now, some might say: “Easy for you to say. I’m poor. I live in a place without basic human rights. What authority do I really have?”And to that, I say — yes, even then. Because no matter your circumstances, no matter who you are or where you come from, you still have this core authority: the authority over your own mind, your choices, your direction — even if it’s just one small step at a time. This is not about ignoring real struggles — it’s about owning the one power no one can take from you: the authority to do what you can, with what you have, to move toward a better life.
That authority is mine. And it’s yours too. Always.
